YOGA

I decided to start doing yoga. I always favored pilates, but my gym doesn't run any classes at times I can attend. As I've gotten older, my body feels like a 75 year old woman. My knees hurt, my flexibility is non existent, and my back aches daily. This is a picture which is similar to my first yoga class. It was a 7:30pm Candlelight Yoga class for 1.5 hours. It was AWESOME. The instructor was slow, and explained every single move. It was HOT, which I loved, and I felt great when I left. This leads to the next photo.......

HAHAHAHAHAH...Yesterday was a snow day.....so no work. Ryan and I went to the gym, and the only class offered at that time was Vinyasa Yoga. Whatever....it's yoga, it'll be just like the other night. I should have known when I got there and people were doing these horrific stretches, and the instructor knew everyone by their name. There was one other NEW girl, and I warned her not to watch me as I had NO idea what I was doing. Boy, was I in for a surprise!!! I later found out this was marked as an advanced/intermediate class....which explains how almost everyone was able to perform the above pose as well as the 4 sequences without hesitation...Eagle, backbends, cobras, chair twists, planks, squirrels, half I cant remember. I do know that I didn't give up. My newbie friend left at the 1 hour mark and I sweated it out. I adjusted to my abilities and was very proud of myself. I will NOT do another Vinyasa Yoga class until I am more comfortable with a slow yoga class and candlelight yoga. I need more practice with the basics before I venture into an advanced class. My back is sore, my hands hurt (I have yet to be able to take the pressure off my hands in downward dog), and my thighs still burn.
